About us
Stichting Helpdesk Digitale Zorg is a nationally operating service desk in Utrecht for people with digital assistance needs. We work every day on an inclusive digital care environment, in which everyone can participate. We help tens of thousands of people annually via our telephone helpdesk, live chats and collaborations with healthcare institutions.
As a non-profit foundation, we are at the heart of society. Helpdesk Digital Care combines social impact with entrepreneurship. Our mission: equal access to digital care, for everyone. In the coming years, we want to grow to 100,000 contacts per year, with a solid foundation of partners in care and policy.
We work according to the supervisory board model. Since the beginning of 2024, we have a single-headed board with integral responsibility, supported by a compact and driven management team. The culture within HDZ is open, empathetic, innovative and collaborative.
Role and tasks of the Supervisory Board (RvT)
The Supervisory Board of our foundation consists of three members. It supervises the main lines and functions as a strategic sparring partner for the director. We are looking for members who not only monitor, but also inspire and challenge.
The Supervisory Board:
- supervises the strategic direction, financial continuity and personnel policy;
- appoints and evaluates the board and acts as its employer;
- thinks along, whether solicited or unsolicited, about social developments and innovation;
- contributes to strengthening the organizational culture;
- monitors the social mission of Helpdesk Digital Care in combination with business realism;
- is alert to regional and national developments in digital care, with attention to people who are lagging behind in this area;
- meets with the board at least three times a year;
- approves the annual accounts;
- strives for diversity in background, perspectives and experience;
- actively contributes to the future sustainability of the foundation.
Members are appointed for four years and can be reappointed a maximum of two times.
What do you bring as a member of the Supervisory Board?
We are looking for people with social involvement, strategic insight and the ability to work together from complementarity. You recognize yourself in the following points:
- you are an advocate of digital care and you see the risks of exclusion;
- you have a vision of how technology should be accessible to all people;
- you endorse our mission and actively promote it;
- you have management experience or relevant experience at a strategic level;
- you have a feeling for the dynamics of a growing social organization;
- you have a relevant network that you also use;
- you are analytical, strategic and think constructively;
- you are able to serve the public interest, even above personal or sectoral interests;
- you have an academic working and thinking level;
- you feel at home in the tension between social impact and business sustainability;
- you have the ability to find the right balance between involvement and managerial distance;
- you are honest, responsible, positively critical and independent;
- Specific experience with a scale-up, innovation in the public domain, digital inclusion or societal transformation is an advantage.
ICT and AI portfolio
For this vacancy we are specifically looking for a member who will take on the ICT and AI portfolio within the RvT. This means that you:
- have current knowledge of technological developments in healthcare;
- can reflect on the social and ethical implications of AI and digitalization;
- advises the board and the supervisory board on technological opportunities and risks;
- contributes to the strategic positioning on this theme;
- knows developments in policy, legislation and the market and translates these into impact for the organization;
- have an eye for digital accessibility and inclusion in technological choices.
