How do I log in with a driver's license or identity card?
Logging in with a driver's license or identity card is only possible with a Dutch identity card (issue date from March 13, 2021)
or Dutch driving license (issue date from May 26, 2018).
In addition, logging in only works if you have a computer or telephone with an NFC function.
Steps in brief
- Choose 'With my driver's license' or for 'With my ID' on the login screen
- Choose a device to scan with
- Scan your driver's license or identity card
Choose login method
Select the option on the login screen 'With my driver's license' or for 'With my ID'.
1. Choose a device
Now indicate which device you want to use for scanning.
If you want to log in via the computer, choose 'On a computer with NFC card reader'.
Then place your ID on the NFC scanner.
If you want to log in via telephone, choose 'On a mobile with NFC reader'.
2. Scan
After you have made a choice, open the DigiD app on your phone. Get a pairing code and enter it on the device you are trying to log in to.
Then place your ID/driver's license on your phone to scan the card.
