The annual ID check with DigiD is a check to confirm that you are really the one logging in. This is necessary according to European regulations (eIDAS) so that your data remains properly protected.

Some organizations, such as in healthcare, request this additional check. For example, to sensitive information to view, such as medical data.

Have you performed the ID check before? Then you must do it again every year if you log in to an organization that requests this. If necessary, you will automatically receive a notification in the DigiD app and you will be helped step by step.

During the ID check, the app only verifies who you are. Your identity document details are not saved.
